Botox is usually associated with older women because they are prone to having wrinkles and deep lines but more and more younger women, even as young as – early twenties are coming in and treating predicted problem areas with botox for preventative treatments.
The idea is that the sooner the area is treated the less the skin will develop the lines.
Botox can be used to PREVENT wrinkles/lines as well as treat them. The freezing of muscles with botox, can prevent their movement which will in-turn deter the development of lines.
The areas that are being treated for preventative purposes are: forehead, frown lines, smile lines and crow’s feet (lines around the eyes).
How does Botox work?
It stops signals from the nerves to the muscles which prevent the injected area from being able to contract. This results in the softening of the wrinkles/lines.
Results can last between 3-6months.
Regular botox treatment can result in the lines and wrinkles often appearing less severe over time as regular treatments enable the muscles to shrink.
